ARTIST STATEMENT
Geometry and light enter my mind’s eye as I sit in stillness before dawn. I record the images in my sketchbook as they fade into silence. Later in my studio, I decipher them with layers of luminous and opaque paint, minimalist abstract forms, and moving images. These small daily rituals, reveal a message that takes time, maybe even lifetimes, to decode.
For over three decades, I have been delving into the ethereal qualities of abstraction through geometry, line, the digital and the hand-made. My current practice is centered on painting, sculpture, prints, and video installation. Earlier work includes net art and digital animation.
My work is both intimate and timeless in all its varied mediums. The through line lies just below the surface of things, in the play between form and formlessness. Structure and luminosity act as a conduit for an inner light that ripples out into the world in a kind of alchemical transformation.
