ARTIST STATEMENT

Geometry and light enter my mind’s eye as I sit in stillness in the early hours before dawn. I record these images in my notebook as they fade into silence. Later in my studio, I decipher them with layers of luminous and opaque paint, minimalist abstract forms, and moving images. These small daily rituals, reveal a message that takes hours, months, years, maybe even lifetimes, to decode.

For over three decades, I have been delving into the ethereal qualities of geometric abstraction. My current practice is centered on painting, sculpture, prints, and video installation. Earlier work includes internet art and digital animation.

As a conduit for a kind of alchemical transformation, I make work that is both intimate and timeless. The through line lies below the surface of things, in the play between form and formlessness.
